Use waste heat from air compression, which is necessary in aluminum production to heat the company’s interiors in Kidričevo
Talum is an investor of this project in Kidričevo (Slovenia).
4.5 MWh of waste heat is produced every day during air compression, which is necessary in aluminum production. Since 2015 this heat is used to heat the company’s interiors through a heat exchanger and a closed loop of 7 m3. The heat source has a temperature of 84 °C and power of 350 kW. It is gradually cooled down during the process and later discharged in the form of lukewarm water. The solution is utilized only for seven months of the year as it is used only to heat the rooms. Every year, 1,242 MWh energy is saved.
